All over the television & radio you're hearing about how "Detroit" or "The Big Three" are in deep trouble due to the lack of New Vehicle Sales in our downturned economy. What you may not know is that the ENTIRE NEW CAR INDUSTRY is selling at nearly 50% - half - its normal capacity in 2009. That includes Toyota and Honda. If you normally don't buy new cars, and I'm one of them, that's bad news for used car buyers. Right now wholesale prices are a little high but relatively flat for used cars. Still, supply is lower than normal across the nation. All used cars come from new car sales. With new vehicle sales down an average of 32% in 2008, that means there are 11% fewer used cars in the market - that's just for 2009. It's getting worse.
The bottom line? If you think you're going to need to replace or acquire a used car within the next few months, you need to make that purchase now while there is still a decent selection available. We're forecasting a 25% to 30% increase in the prices of used cars by the end of 2009. That means you'll need to pay more even if you buy cash or you'll need larger down payments. BUY NOW.
